La Certosella - Capri

Just a few minutes away from the famous Piazzetta, along the incredibly picturesque via Tragara, one finds the hotel La Certosella, believed to be the very first building to have been built in this particularly green and panoramic area. The French librettist Camille Du Locle, "o francesiello" to the islanders for his minute stature, known internationally for his work as director of the Paris Opera Comique and the libretti of Verdi's "La Forza del Destino" and "Don Carlos", commissioned the construction of the villa in the distant1880.
An extremely refined atmosphere still pervades the hotel, with its elegant rooms many of which have balconies and terraces with enchanting sea views. Guests staying at La Certosella can choose to relax in the beautiful and gloriously peaceful reading room, enjoy a refreshing drink at either of the hotel's two bars, dine at the excellent restaurant or simply soak up the sunshine by the swimming pool with its splendid views over the sea.
