Anacapri - La Migliera

The pathway of the Migliora or Migliora, winds through characteristic cultivated land, largely covered in grapevines, between surviving patches of ancient woodland and openings looking out towards the sea of Ischia.
The walk along the once entirely pedestrian lane amidst the vineyards, concludes with the Belevedere del Tuono view point, the most enchanting of all those on the island of Capri
The gentle landscape changes dramatically, presenting walkers with a spectacular precipice of ragged white rocks which extend as far as Cala del Limmo and Punta Carena, with its famous lighthouse.
Sole residents of the area are the seagulls which, wings outstretched, exploit the currents of air beneath the viewpoint.
The spectacular Belvedere del Tuono was, perhaps, already appreciated in Roman times; in the nineteenth century, in fact, ancient ruins with glass mosaic tiles and colored plaster were still visible here.
Walking up a little dirt track one finds first statue of the Madonna then a great iron cross, before arriving at another viewpoint which looks out over the Faraglioni rocks and which can give the visitor the illusion of being the only person on the island of Capri, especially at sunset or during a winter day, when very few boats cross the waters.
