Itinerary 6 - The Migliera and the Tuono viewpoint
From Piazza Vittoria the road leads to the Migliera and the Tuono viewpoint. The walk passes through what has to be one of the island of Capri’s most relaxing landscapes. From Via Caposcuro one proceeds through stretches of cultivated land, vineyards and patches of woodland.
After the first junction, one finds the town cemetery. It was in this area that the Medieval village was built, of which very few traces remain, other than the cisterns still present beneath the modern houses.
At the end of the path the panorama changes dramatically, opening out onto a breathtaking view over the sea, and the sharp masses of craggy rocks which raise up like prehistoric spears before crashing into the sea. Silence reigns supreme, broken only by the call of the sea gulls and the sound of the wind. It is easy to be entranced by such a fabulous display of nature.
On the right there is a pathway which leads to the Materita Tower, from where one can return to the town. To the left there is another path which takes walkers to the summit of Monte Solaro, a dirt track which, preferably, should be followed in the company of a local expert.
