Religious Ceremonies

It's not easy to arrange a religious ceremony in the towns of Capri and Anacapri if you are Catholic, because Catholic ceremonies can be performed only for those who reside in the archdiocese of Sorrento, barring a special dispensation from the bishop.
Protestant weddings can be celebrated in the small German Evangelical chapel located in Capri.

Civil Ceremonies

It is much more simple to organize a civil ceremony in the town of Capri in the hall in the City Hall building located in the Piazzetta or in one of a number of scenic spots on the island.

Ceremonies held in City Hall are free during office hours, whereas there is a charge for civil ceremonies held in other venues.

Civil ceremonies in Capri can be held at the following venues:

  • Gardens of Augustus

  • Tragara scenic overlook

  • Punta Cannone scenic overlook

  • Villa Lysis (Fersen)

  • Charterhouse of San Giacomo (with authorization from the "Soprintendenza")

If you would like to exchange your vows against the backdrop of the Faraglioni, then opt for the Gardens of Augustus, or the Tragara or Punta Cannone scenic overlooks (the latter is perfect for small weddings).

In the town of Anacapri, civil weddings can be held at the following breathtaking venues:

  • The Lighthouse

  • The Migliera

  • Damecuta

  • Cetrella

  • The forts of Orrico and Mesola

There is a small charge for civil weddings held at these venues, though those held inside the City Hall during office hours are free.

Symbolic Ceremonies

Symbolic ceremonies can be celebrated wherever you choose; one of the most popular venues in inside the Gardens of Augustus on the scenic overlook facing the Faraglioni.

When Should We Get Married on Capri?

The best months for holding a destination wedding on Capri are between May and mid-September. We do not advise planning a winter wedding on the island, as rough seas often cause logistical difficulties.
