da Gelsomina Migliera

During a recent 5-night stay in lovely Anacapri we ate dinner at Da Gelsomina 3 times, each time walking there along the Via Migliera from the center of town. Again, as in the past, I was reminded why this is my favorite restaurant not only in Anacapri, not only on the island of Capri, not only in Campania, but in all of Italy! The walk from town is scenic and stimulates the appetite. Arriving at the restaurant, the greeting from manager Pasquale and the superb service team of Raffaele, Massimo, Mariano (and others whose name I don't know) is genuinely welcoming and warm. As vegetable, pasta and seafood lovers, we again greatly enjoyed the verdure miste, alici marinate, spaghetti puttanesca and pesce in crosta di mandorle, among other dishes. The wine of the house (from that very property!) is tasty and very reasonably priced. From the dining room the view of the island of Ischia and beyond at sunset (and any other time!) is world class. This is a restaurant that earns more than 5 stars in all the important categories -- location, view, service, menu, food preparation and wine. As always, we hope to have the good fortune to return to Da Gelsomina!

This is the finest restaurant in all of AnaCapri. The restaurant provides a shuttle from some hotels or from the city center. We arrive at 7pm which gave us time to roam the garden and see the Virgin Mary. Upon returning to the restaurant we were seated right by the window. These seats are very limited so make your reservation 90 days in advance. We started our meal with the Caprese Salad which is large enough for 2 and a half bottle of Rose’ Wine. The bread with olive oil and cheese was delicious. For Pasta we chose the Linguini with clams which was filled with garlic. For our main course we had the fish which was deboned tableside . It was a very memorable experience.

Panoramic restaurant, probably one of the few authentic ones left. Excellent cuisine, with home flavors, both meat and fish. Great wine list. Ideal at sunset.

We’ve dined here several times and recommend highly to friends and family… even the pickiest foodie you know will enjoy ! (I know ours has!!) Fresh farm grown entrees and seasonal fruit - The seafood is amazing ! Prepared in a light and tender way ! The pasta is just absolutely to die for : like ribbons. Don’t know what to order - allow the owner to dictate the menu. Amazing !!!!
