There are few restaurants in the world which can boast a location as stunning as that occupied by Capri's Da Luigi ai Faraglioni.

Lunch beneath the rocks

This historic eatery, dating back to 1936, sits on the water's edge, almost directly beneath the island's Faraglioni rocks. Here, in the shadow of the legendary sea stacks, holidaymakers mingle with members of the international jet set, who regularly come to savor the restaurant's delicious Mediterranean cuisine.

Fruits of the sea

Not surprisingly, the menu features a vast selection of fish and seafood dishes, as well as traditional island specialties and an exciting range of salads. Containing all the best local and regional wines, the wine list ensures the perfect accompaniment to each and every meal.

The superlative cuisine together with the unbeatable location, make Da Luigi ai Faraglioni a sought after venue in which to host an exclusive event or party

Beach and shuttle

Not only a first class restaurant, Da Luigi ai Faraglioni is also a much loved bathing establishment, where visitors come to swim and laze in the sun from dawn until dusk.

To make your journey back to the center of Capri part of the day's fun, Da Luigi ai Faraglioni provides a shuttle boat service to Marina Piccola.

D’obbligo ritornarci . Consigliatissimo

Stunning Setting, But Prices Have Soared

I’ve been visiting Da Luigi in Capri with my family for many years, though this was my first time back since before Covid. I was happy to see that much of the charm remains — the breathtaking location is just as unique as I remembered, and many of the same staff are still here. Unfortunately, some things have changed, most notably the prices. The basic entrance fee is now €115 per person, and surprisingly, that doesn’t even include an umbrella — that’s extra. Before, this spot was popular with Italians and locals, but now it seems mostly frequented by international visitors, likely because they’re the ones able to afford the new rates. On arrival, we were offered an upgrade to “prime” €800 front-row seats, which came with only minor perks compared to our third-row spot. You do get a voucher for food at the restaurant, but the menu is steeply priced — a simple salad is close to €30, and a cappuccino is €10, even by Capri standards. We ordered a salad to start and pasta with seafood for our main. The salad’s seasoning was disappointing, likely due to poor-quality oil and vinegar, while the pasta sauce was tasty but nothing extraordinary. To make matters worse, the pasta itself was overcooked. Service was polite both at the restaurant and on the sunbeds, though there was a noticeable push toward upselling. The sea, as always, was pristine, the water refreshingly cool, and the view absolutely spectacular. That said, the beach was surprisingly quiet for August — perhaps a sign that the quality-to-price ratio isn’t hitting the mark. While I still recommend it for the scenery and the setting, it’s hard to justify the cost when Capri offers other beautiful spots at better value.

Map

To reach the Da Luigi ai Faraglioni restaurant and bathing establishment, make your way to Belvedere Tragara, a five minute walk from the center of Capri, and from here take the little path amidst the coastal pine trees which leads down to the sea and the Faraglioni rocks.

You can make the return journey aboard Da Luigi's shuttle boat which leaves customers in the Bay of Marina Piccola, from where you can easily reach the center of town, by bus, taxi, or on foot.
