The unmistakable flavors and aromas of Capri's traditional cuisine, a terrace looking out over the Bay of Marina Piccola, and a spectacular view of the Faraglioni rocks: a meal at La Canzone del Mare is an eating experience you'll never forget! Built on the remains of an historic fort set in the coastal cliffs, this hidden cove became a hot spot in the 1950s-'60s for the international jet set, who would gather here to relax in luxury and style.

Did you know? The first owner of Canzone del Mare was none other than the late, great Gracie Fields, film star and singer!

From Sea to Table

Canzone del Mare's menus feature deliciously simple, flavor-packed Mediterranean dishes, prepared using the freshest of ingredients, including fish and seafood caught by the local fishermen and the island's super sweet, sun-ripened fruit and vegetables and pungent local herbs.

The wine list contains an impressive selection of Italian and regional wines, best sampled with juicy yellow peaches, a delicious island tradition.

More than a Restaurant

Not only is Canzone del Mare one of Capri's best known restaurants, it is also a popular bathing establishment with two pools, an exclusive venue in which to host a glamorous wedding reception, gala dinner or private party. To celebrate a special event, how about a dinner by candlelight on the veranda of the panoramic terraces overlooking the sparkling sea and dramatic Faraglioni on the horizon?

Today we were customers at this establishment and experienced a situation that could have had very serious consequences. A beach umbrella from the upper level flew off and ended up hitting the bathers. The wooden pole supporting the umbrella hit my daughter in the abdomen and, following the impact, she still has pain in the affected area. The most serious thing is that this was not an isolated incident. Throughout the day, the umbrellas fell and shifted multiple times, ending up hitting people and also causing material damage, including the breaking of glass bottles and glasses served by the bar, with an obvious risk to the safety of the customers. The wind today was moderate and it did not seem like an exceptional weather situation. The problem appeared to be related more to the management and securing of the umbrellas. It was evident that the staff was aware of the risk: the feeling was that similar incidents were already known and treated with too much superficiality. The staff members could not continuously close all the umbrellas because, with the high number of umbrellas present and the reduced staff, it was not materially possible to manage the situation safely. What left us most bitter, in addition to the fear for what happened and my daughter's pain, was the total absence of management. After the umpteenth incident, no one responsible came forward to check the situation, inquire about the condition of the people involved, or even just offer an apology. I find it unacceptable that such a situation could occur at a beach club. Customer safety should be the absolute priority and should never be put on the back burner.

TERRIBLE!

Throughout the day, due to the wind, the umbrellas fell and flew off multiple times because, evidently, they are not assembled or secured in an adequate manner. On several occasions they ended up hitting customers, also causing glasses to break and creating potentially very dangerous situations. In one incident, the wooden pole that supports an umbrella hit a girl in the abdomen, demonstrating how concrete the risk to people's safety was. The most serious thing was the handling of the incident: after the umpteenth fall, the staff called management, but no manager showed up to check the situation or even just to apologize to the customers involved. The staff's attitude suggested that such episodes were considered almost normal, a sign of a worrying habit of living with a problem that puts people's safety at risk. I find such a lack of attention toward the safety of customers unacceptable. Safety should be an absolute priority, while at this establishment it seemed to take a complete backseat. I hope that adequate measures are adopted as soon as possible to prevent similar episodes from happening again.

Very bad experience. Avoid at all costs

I think it is reasonable to consider that this establishment robbed us. We had come to have a drink and then we asked to eat a plate of fruit. We were therefore directed to the restaurant, which allowed management to charge 3 × 7 euros in cover charges for just one plate of fruit!! If you add the two cocktails and the glass of lemonade, the bill came to 71 €. This is an establishment to avoid at all costs!!! The fruit was hard and the cocktails were quite mediocre, rounding out the bad experience.
