GREAT HOTEL BUT HORRIBLE WIFI/HOT WATER

Hotel is great. Nice rooms and common areas. BUT, two issues that they actually have to resolve: 1. WiFi: is straight up doesn’t work. We went two days without WiFi 2. Hot water: water is warm at best, but doesn’t not get hot Those issues really need to be fixed. Unacceptable for a nice hotel to have no WiFi or hot water.

Perfect for us

I love this hotel. It was perfect in every way for our needs. More like a five star than four. It was last on a quiet lane away from the hustle bustle yet easy walking distance to everything. They were very nice at the front desk and were happy to make recommendations and reservations for dinner. It’s a beautiful hotel- marble everywhere- but in a new fresh new look. Infinity edge pool is divine, looking at the sea. Breakfast was good but no ordering eggs Benedict in addition to the buffet without separate charges. The croissants were the best we’ve had so far. The bathroom was not huge but there was space enough on the vanity and the shower was spacious with a window. I requested down pillows- they were soft. Only complaint is that the air conditioning was not easy to figure out and not very efficient or quiet, but that would not stop me from coming back. It’s kind of a young hip crowd so they play club sounding music in the afternoons at the pool, but it’s not bothersome.. Be aware they chase people away from the pool at 7pm

We have stayed here 3x over the last 3 years. Overall, this is a wonderful hotel. Rooms are beautiful. Pool is amazing. Staff is great. It’s a perfect location to be in the center of Capri but not immediately in all the action. A short 2 minute walk will get you to all the shops and restaurants. Our only complaint is that year after year, the breakfast is really bad. It’s easily the worst breakfast we’ve had in Europe. They should really invest in improving this. Unless you only eat pastries, you’ll be left hungry.

Stunning views, divine breakfast, elegant hotel

Elegant, stunningly beautiful, and quietly sophisticated, Hotel Mamela far exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend this hotel and I am already plotting my return. The breakfast is divine, on a covered terrace with incredible views. Includes coffee of your choice, fresh squeezed juices, charcuterie (yes for breakfast), pastries, eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit. Include this with your reservation if given a choice. Staff was welcoming, polite, professional, and helpful. Clientele is diverse set of Europeans, some Americans, and other travelers. A pleasant and non-flashy crew. Pool is lovely but may not be the best choice for younger children as it’s a quieter, more adult environment. Padded pool loungers are widely available and the pool was not crowded during our stay. We slept well in the generously sized room with wood plank floors and loved coming up and down the marble stairs each day. We got a top floor room with a small terrace and this was an upgraded room the hotel offered. Definitely get the city view room, as it’s worth it in this case. You can have your luggage ported from Marina Grande, where ferries dock, for a fee (we were quoted 40 euros); contact the hotel for this. Or taxi. I suggest instead the funiculare, a cable car you can take for a few euros. They allow luggage and it’s quick and fun. Might be a line during peak periods. If you taxi or take the funiculare, you’ll have to walk your luggage about 10 min to hotel as cars aren’t allowed in the city center so choose the porter if preferred. Do not walk with luggage from the ferry port, looks rather unpleasant and it’s all uphill. The hotel is well located in central Capri but also at a quiet remove. Capri is overloaded with day tourists and empties out at night. Choose activities carefully given this. Overall I am in love with Hotel Mamela and will return!
