You will catch your first glimpse of Relais Maresca from the ferry as it approaches the colorful houses in Capri's historic fishing village of Marina Grande. The residence was built at this spot overlooking the Mediterranean at the end of the 19th century by the American Colonel John Clay Mackowen, and later became one of Capri's first historic hotels.

A Magical Stay in Capri

Let’s start with the staff. From the minute we entered the door, the staff made this an exceptional experience throughout our stay. From reception through to breakfast staff, the service was very friendly and always with a smile. However special mention needs to go to Antonio, the Hotel Manager. He works hard to make your stay special. Taking time at our arrival to navigate us through a map of the island offering insights into transport; things to do and restaurants all with a glass of chilled Prosecco. We forgot he gave us restaurant recommendations until the last night and we ate at one of his recommendations and it was superb. Only disappointed we forgot and didn’t get the opportunity to try others. Now onto the hotel itself. The location is a 3 minute walk from the ferry at Marina Grande. It does sit on a hill that you can either access by a road or steps but there is porter services to deal with your luggage available from the hotel. The hotel itself is stunning, well decorated and above all very clean. We had a room with balcony overlooking the marina. Again the room was bright, well decorated and very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was big. Like most old hotels the shower was in the bath so some may have trouble accessing but the shower itself was excellent. Amenities include free water; satellite tv and we were kindly given a bottle of Prosecco (on ice) to welcome our arrival. Tea and coffee is basic with no coffee machine but plenty of choice. We had breakfast included and this is taken on the rooftop terrace. Watch out for the seagulls!! It is a buffet style with a lot of choice with many savoury and sweet choices both hot and cold. I don’t usually provide such a long review but this hotel offered the best service of our holiday on the Amalfi Coast and deserves travellers to know In all a magical stay

Excellent, comfortable and quiet location. Friendly and very kind staff. The Director Antonio provided us with a thorough overview of Capri with tips that were very helpful. Beautiful and clean rooms with a magnificent view of Marina Grande and the Gulf of Naples, and a wonderful terrace for breakfast and possibly dinner.

Staying at this hotel is always a sure thing; it consistently maintains a very high standard. We spent our usual vacation in Capri and can’t wait to return. Excellent breakfast and a delightful dinner with a wonderful view of the harbor. Thanks to Antonio, the manager, and his staff for their warm welcome.
