FAQ - Frequently asked questions
What documents are required to rent a scooter?
A valid driver’s license is enough. A motorcycle license is not required, as the available scooters are 50cc and can be driven with a standard car licens.
Is a helmet mandatory and included?
Yes, helmets are mandatory by law. Two sanitized helmets are provided free of charge—one for the driver and one for the passenger.
Is fuel included in the rental price?
Yes, a full tank of fuel is included in the rental fee, so you don’t need to refill before returning the scooter.
Where is the rental office located?
Oasi Motor is located in Marina Grande, just a few steps from the ferry and hydrofoil docks. You can pick up your scooter as soon as you arrive on the island, without needing any additional transfers.
Do I need prior riding experience?
Yes, some basic experience with two-wheeled vehicles is required. Capri’s roads are narrow and hilly, so it is not recommended for complete beginners. Before the rental starts, you’ll also be asked to take a short driving test to ensure you can safely operate the scooter.
Can I ride all around the island with a scooter?
No, not everywhere is accessible. The centers of Capri and Anacapri are pedestrian-only areas closed to traffic, but you can park nearby and continue on foot. You can ride to Punta Carena Lighthouse and the Blue Grotto, while the Marina Piccola area is closed to non-resident traffic throughout the summer season. Before the rental, you’ll receive a detailed map showing all routes, parking areas, and restricted traffic zones.
What happens in case of a breakdown or problem during rental?
Roadside assistance is available throughout the island. If necessary, a replacement scooter or technical support will be provided quickly.
Are there free parking areas for scooters in Capri?
Near the centers of Capri and Anacapri, only paid parking is available. You can find free parking in certain areas, such as at Punta Carena Lighthouse and near the Blue Grotto.
