For more than a century, the Aurora restaurant and pizzeria, owned by the D'Alessio family, has been serving visitors to Capri with the finest food and wine.

Traditional treats with a pinch of creativity

The restaurant, on the fashionable Via Fuorlovado, has gained wide spread international acclaim for its excellent Mediterranean cuisine and for its traditional Neapolitan and Caprese specialties to which Chef Franco Aversa adds that sprinkling of culinary innovation, which places the Aurora among the most exclusive restaurants on the island.

Order as starter the famous pizza all'acqua, an original old recipe of pizza, served with mozzarella and red peppers.

Capri's wine wizard

The Aurora restaurant was among the very first establishments to introduce a selection of quality wines to Capri and over the years has continued to seek out the very best Italian and International wines.

This passion for fine wines and the ever-expanding wine cellar of the Aurora has led to the opening of the centrally located Vino , a fabulous wine bar with an impressive exposition of wines, which, from day one, has proved to be extremely popular with locals and visitors to the island alike.

Aurora was recommended by a friend and we weren’t disappointed . The restaurant wasn’t full when we arrived so we were give a lovely 4 place table at the back of the the restaurant overlooking a lime and a pomegranate tree Our drinks and a lovely bread basket were delivered promptly and then our choices of food . We have recently eaten in 1 an 3 Michelin star restaurants around the world and Aurora does not have to stand back for them . The oysters were very large , meaty and tasty as was the pea , bacon and chilli soup( the chilli is surprising as it is pieces of chilli in the soup not the spice added to the liquid ) - really yummy ! Main course were grilled sea bass with spinach and 3 ways fried shrimp with proper mashed potato - delicious dessert was my favourite being almond with almond ice cream and a meringue brûlée 😁 whilst my husband had a very good looking crème brûlée. We had a lovely soft wine off an extensive wine list and ended the meal with espresso and fresh mint tea. Our waiter, Christian, was efficient , very friendly and made our meal feel special .- thank you Christian and all the staff who prepared our last meal in Capri before heading home

Do NOT waste a dinner in Capri on AURORA. This was, without question, the worst meal we had in Capri. The service was terrible, the food was inedible, and the entire experience was awful from the start. First of all, when you arrive, they tell you to “go look for the hostess outside” — no check-in, no organization. You’re left standing on the street with a crowd of frustrated people, all waiting to be called like it’s a deli line. We waited 25 minutes, and the scene was chaotic and embarrassing. For the people dining outside, it must be incredibly distracting to have a swarm of annoyed guests hovering just feet from their tables. Once we were finally seated, things didn’t improve. The pasta was so undercooked it was actually hard — not “al dente,” just lazy. The pizza? We ordered two kinds — both soggy, bland, and honestly disgraceful for a restaurant in Italy. Yes, the crowd is beautiful and the scene feels buzzy, but none of that makes up for how bad the food is. This restaurant is surviving on its reputation and clientele, not because it deserves it. With so many exceptional places to eat in Capri, there’s absolutely no reason to end up here. Don’t let the name fool you — this place is not worth your time or money !!!

Poor service, poor pizza, rip off prices. Avoid this place whenever you can. We ordered pizza which looked like frozen microwave stuff 30€ each, wine was ok. 128€. Total scam.
