In 1946 Amedeo, shoemaker of great talent, known for his prolific production of colorful sandals, opened the boutique "Canfora".

Over the decades, Amedeo's splendid sandals, made in wonderful soft leather and decorated with exquisite pieces of costume jewelry, have been purchased by customers of international fame such as Princess Margaret, Princess Caroline, Soraya, Maria Callas, Oona Chaplin, Sofia Loren, Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, Dawn Addams, Anita Ekberg, Naomi Campbell and many others.....

Canfora was a favorite of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, for whom Amedeo never hesitated to open his shop out of normal trading hours so as to guarantee his client a fitting in total privacy. The sandal christened "K" was made exclusively for Mrs Onassis.

Angela and Rita, Amedeo's daughters, have inherited the artistic skills of their father, and continue to make the beautiful handmade leather sandals from the little shop in Capri, updating the designs each year to reflect the changing fashions and as an expression of their innate creative talent.

I ordered custom-sized slippers but received a pair about 3 cm too long. Despite several polite messages and a request for a replacement, the seller did not respond. I’m now stuck with unusable shoes. I will report this to chargeback services and ECC (European Consumer Centre). Very misleading experience.

I ordered a pair of sandals I am from the UK. Shipping was given as 10 days. No sandals shipped no contact made so I contacted Canfora for an update. No immediate response so chased them up again only to be told there was a delay and they aimed to ship them the following week. Still no sandals or update thus once again I am chasing them up several times. I was assured they would arrive for Mother’s Day - my special occasion however they did not. They were now over a month late. I therefore cancelled the order. No immediate refund it took over a week and more emails. Customer service was in all honesty abysmal considering they are a family run business for many years and their reputation relies in the main on this. Had they had kept me updated I may have reconsidered my option. I recommend if buying for a special occasion or your Summer holidays to plan 6 months ahead or you will be another disappointed customer. I dare say Jackie O didn’t encounter this treatment.

You cannot miss Canfora if shopping in Capri! Amazing shop and perfectly fitting sandals hand made in less than an hour.

Fraud alert—buyer beware!!

Buyer beware!! I ordered 2 pairs of sandals online and only ever received one (long after the website promised it would take). Despite many emails and texts, I got no satisfaction. When I contacted AMEX to get a refund, more than 60 days had passed so I was out of luck. Don’t make the same mistake….
