At the foot of Capri's Faraglioni rocks, where the sea is warm and crystal clear and the silence is broken only by the sound of the waves, you'll find Fontelina: the restaurant belonging to the historic beach club with which it shares its name.

A family passion

Run for more than half a century by the Arcucci and Gargiulo families, Fontelina is famous for its exquisite maritime cuisine, prepared with the freshest of fish and seafood.

If you don't fancy fish, the menu features a number of vegetarian dishes too, including the island's delicious ravioli capresi

The restaurant's sangria, provides the perfect accompaniment to dishes which are both pleasingly simple and surprisingly light.

Brides on the beach

The fabulous food, wonderful wine and breathtakingly beautiful location - within swimming distance of the Faraglioni - make Fontelina the kind of place dream weddings come true!

Fontelina is one of the island's favorite beach clubs, easily reached on foot, from the Tragara viewing terrace, or by taxi-boat from Marina Piccola.

Insider tips

We suggest you book your table as soon as you arrive on the island, especially if you plan to visit Capri in the peak summer months.

Fontelina's rocky beach is made up of shallow reefs, making it unsuitable for small children.

Tourist trap

It was an overall poor experience. There are countless hidden fees associated with visit. We had two cocktails, mediocre pasta and laid on the concrete and spent €400. €50 to open an umbrella. We were not able to swim in the water because it was too rough. Beach staff was run and entitled. Better ways to spend time and money… Not worth the “picture.”

National Disgrace – Avoid at All Costs

This so-called restaurant is not just bad – it’s an outright disgrace to Italy and its world-renowned culinary culture. From the moment we sat down, the experience went downhill fast. The manager is shockingly rude, arrogant, and clearly used to bullying tourists. He speaks with contempt, shows no interest in service, and seems to take pride in scamming foreigners. We were served bland, overpriced food that wouldn’t pass for acceptable in a highway gas station. But the real insult came with the bill – packed with charges for things we didn’t order, absurd service fees, and invented “extras.” When questioned, the manager laughed in our faces and refused to adjust anything, treating us with open disrespect. It was clear this was all part of their business model: overcharge, intimidate, cash in, repeat. This isn’t a restaurant. It’s a well-oiled tourist scam machine. The fact that this place is still open is a mystery – and a shame. Do not step foot here. Ever.

Capri scam

The spot is so overated the owner is despicable Worst Dining Experience in Italy – Tourist Trap Alert This was hands down the most disappointing – and infuriating – restaurant experience we’ve had in Italy. What’s happening here is not hospitality, it’s outright fraud dressed up as Italian charm. Prices are absurd, and the food is not even average. But the real insult? They added hidden charges to the bill, and when we politely questioned it, we were met with aggressive denial and mockery. This place has no soul, no quality, and no respect for the Italian culinary tradition. It is a total scam built to trap unsuspecting visitors. Capri deserves better than this.

The Shame of Italian Hospitality

If you’re visiting Capri, do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this so-called “restaurant” as possible. This place is nothing short of a disgrace to Italian cuisine and hospitality. It is, without exaggeration, the greatest scam I’ve encountered while traveling in Italy – and that says a lot. From the moment we walked in, the attitude was hostile and arrogant. The manager is the epitome of rudeness – aggressive, dismissive, and clearly only interested in ripping off tourists. Zero respect, zero professionalism. He spoke to us like we were a nuisance rather than guests. The food? Mediocre at best, laughably overpriced, and suspiciously pre-prepared. It’s clear they rely on tourist turnover, not quality or reputation. No locals in sight – that should’ve been the first red flag. We were charged for things we never ordered, and when we questioned it, the manager turned defensive and condescending. Arguing with guests seems to be part of their “customer service” model. This place doesn’t belong in Italy – it’s a tourist trap, plain and simple. An absolute embarrassment to the rich culinary tradition of this country. Avoid it like the plague. Spend your money elsewhere – anywhere else.

Map

The Fontelina restaurant is located on the tiny beach at the foot of the Faraglioni, in one of the most beautiful corners of the Island of Capri.

You can reach Fontelina by boat or on foot, using the steep, downhill path which starts just beneath the Punta Tragara viewing point. If you don't fancy making the uphill return journey, you can always take the restaurant's shuttle boat service to Marina Piccola instead.
