At the foot of Capri's Faraglioni rocks, where the sea is warm and crystal clear and the silence is broken only by the sound of the waves, you'll find Fontelina: the restaurant belonging to the historic beach club with which it shares its name.

A family passion

Run for more than half a century by the Arcucci and Gargiulo families, Fontelina is famous for its exquisite maritime cuisine, prepared with the freshest of fish and seafood.

If you don't fancy fish, the menu features a number of vegetarian dishes too, including the island's delicious ravioli capresi

The restaurant's sangria, provides the perfect accompaniment to dishes which are both pleasingly simple and surprisingly light.

Brides on the beach

The fabulous food, wonderful wine and breathtakingly beautiful location - within swimming distance of the Faraglioni - make Fontelina the kind of place dream weddings come true!

Fontelina is one of the island's favorite beach clubs, easily reached on foot, from the Tragara viewing terrace, or by taxi-boat from Marina Piccola.

Insider tips

We suggest you book your table as soon as you arrive on the island, especially if you plan to visit Capri in the peak summer months.

Fontelina's rocky beach is made up of shallow reefs, making it unsuitable for small children.

Disappointing from start to finish

I wouldn’t recommend this place, many other beach clubs that treat you so much better. They will sit you in the back of the club if you’re walking in and not coming off of one of the yachts and boats. The service is even worse, not once the entire day did the wait staff come to us at our chairs (this was true for basically everyone we saw), we had to get up and go order our drinks. When paying the bill they hover over you until you tell them an amount to tip. The half dozen couples next to us had the identical experience.. on the plus side, because of this we got to meet some really nice couples from all over the world near us :). One of them left immediately after their required lunch reservation unfortunately. We stuck it out until around 4:00 given the minimum spend requirements. We learned our lesson and will not be back. Many other better ways to spend your day and money on the island

Wouldn’t Recommend

The beach club is far from luxurious like advertised and expected. We arrived pretty early and were one of 5 groups on the beach to start and got put in the very back. at first it wasn’t a problem but pretty quickly they sat a family of 3 right in front of us which also happened to be on a slightly elevated surface. completely ruined the view. the family was also extremely loud and annoying. the daughter argued with the parents all day and was moving around taking pictures. we asked if we could move since the beach was still empty and the employee laughed and said “the beach is empty how could it be loud?” after explaining again they offered us “the only spot left” which wasn’t much better so we stayed…the beach never filled up. Food and views were good but I wouldn’t recommend.

La vista vale la visita. Menu molto curato e cibo decisamente delizioso. Place to be and to be seen. Il servizio potrebbe essere più attento, ma tutto sommato una tappa è consigliata, soprattutto a pranzo.

Map

The Fontelina restaurant is located on the tiny beach at the foot of the Faraglioni, in one of the most beautiful corners of the Island of Capri.

You can reach Fontelina by boat or on foot, using the steep, downhill path which starts just beneath the Punta Tragara viewing point. If you don't fancy making the uphill return journey, you can always take the restaurant's shuttle boat service to Marina Piccola instead.
