How to get to Molo Beverello pier in Naples

Molo Beverello pier in Naples is located in Piazza Municipio in the city center, right underneath Castel Nuovo (the castle also known as Maschio Angioino). It's easy to reach on foot from the entire area around Piazza Plebiscito, Chiaia, and Via Toledo (see how to visit Naples in one day). All hydrofoils depart from the Molo Beverello pier.

If you're coming from Naples Capodichino Airport:

Bus: The bus that connects Naples Capodichino Airport with the port is called Alibus. It departs from just outside the arrivals hall and stops at both Molo Beverello pier and Calata Porta di Massa. It makes only one intermediate stop, at Piazza Garibaldi. Under typical traffic conditions, the ride takes about 30 minutes. The ticket costs 5 euros and can also be purchased on board.

Taxi: Authorized taxis line up in a queue just outside the airport exit. Don't trust anyone who approaches you inside the airport offering you a taxi ride. Ask for the fixed-price fare to the port, which is currently 21 euros.

If you're coming from Naples Piazza Garibaldi train station:

Taxi: The authorized taxi stand is just outside the Napoli Centrale train station. Don't trust anyone who approaches you inside the station asking if you need a taxi ride. The fixed-price fare from the station to the port is currently 15 euros.

Subway: From the ground floor of the Naples Piazza Garibaldi train station, take subway Line 1 (Metropolitana Linea 1) towards Piscinola (direzione Piscinola) and get off at the Piazza Municipio stop. The subway runs every eight minutes during rush hour and takes five minutes to reach Piazza Municipio, which is the third stop after boarding at Garibaldi. Once you exit the subway station, you need to walk the entire length of Piazza Municipio towards the water, then cross the road to the ticket office. If you have a lot of luggage this walk isn't easy; in that case we recommend a taxi.

How to get to Calata Porta di Massa pier in Naples

The Calata Porto di Massa pier is inside the port of Naples, halfway between Molo Beverello pier and Piazza Garibaldi. To reach Calata di Massa from Molo Beverello you need to walk about 10 minutes inside the port, crossing the cruise terminal and keeping the water on your right.

If you're coming by cruise and want to go to Capri

Cruise ships dock at the Stazione Marittima cruise port, halfway between Calata di Massa pier and Molo Beverello pier. Both departure piers are easily reachable on foot if you're coming to Naples by cruise ship and you want to go to Capri for the day.

Parking at the Port of Naples

You can't get to Capri by car (unless the vehicle has a special authorization) so you'll need to leave the car in one of the parking garages inside the port. The average price for full-day parking inside the Port of Naples (from morning until evening) is around 20 euros.

Do I need to book the ticket for the Naples - Capri route in advance? Can I buy it directly at the port?

Ferry tickets can always be bought at the port, up until a few minutes before departure time. However, sometimes the hydrofoils sell out during busy periods on the Amalfi Coast such as Easter and high season, in which case you'd have to wait for the next hydrofoil. 

Times in which seats may not be immediately available on the hydrofoil from Naples to Capri island are:

• from May to September, for trips departing in the morning and on Friday afternoons

If you decide to book your hydrofoil departure time from Naples to Capri in advance, keep in mind you have to exchange your booking voucher at the ticket office in order to get your valid boarding ticket. During busy periods at the ticket offices, such as Easter, there is a dedicated counter for online bookings.

If you're not sure exactly when you'll arrive at the port (for example, if you have a flight into Italy) we advise you not to buy your ticket in advance, because it's not always possible to change it in the event of a delay. In that case, it's better to buy your ticket directly at the port for the first-available departing vessel.

Luggage

On every hydrofoil and Capri ferry you can bring luggage without restrictions. The only baggage that requires a supplement is any piece that exceeds the standard carry-on luggage size (55x40x35), at a cost of 2 euros per bag. 

People with limited mobility

Commercial hydrofoils, ships, and ferries are required by law to be accessible. However, we advise you to contact the company in advance to make sure that the boat is accessible and to request assistance during embarkation and disembarkation. Generally speaking, hydrofoils are more easily accessible than ferries and high-speed craft, since hydrofoils don't have stairs for boarding.
